Department of Basic Sciences comprises three faculty members with areas of expertise spanning Mathematics and Optimization. The department admits undergraduate students to the Engineering Sciences Program.

The field of Engineering Sciences with a specialization in Optimization is an interdisciplinary and relatively new academic discipline in Iran. It is designed to train individuals who possess a deep understanding of basic sciences while being fully equipped to analyze and solve complex engineering problems. In essence, this field serves as a bridge between fundamental theoretical research and practical engineering applications.

Optimization refers to the process of identifying the best possible solution from a set of feasible alternatives, subject to specific constraints. In simpler terms, it leverages mathematical theories and algorithmic approaches to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall system performance.

Research interests in Department of Basic Science include Non-commutative Algebra, Optimal Location on Graphs, Non-smooth and Non-convex Optimization Decision Making and Machine Learning.
